I haven't communicated much with Substack, but, being Aquarian, I'm pretty good at experimenting, so I've learned how to do a couple things quicker on my substack posts than when I started my substacks last summer.
POSTING PICTURES
HARD WAY. Posting images on forums etc is usually difficult. I usually have to get images online and copy them with the PrtScr (Print Screen) key on my computer keypad, then paste them into my Paint program to edit them, so I usually make a file for the image with Paint. (I used to use https://imgbb.com/ to make files that I could post online.)
SUBSTACK WAY. Substack has a feature called Insert Image at the top of the page when starting a new post or thread via the Dashboard. One can use that to add an image from a file in one's computer.
I previously thought I had to make images that way (as files) and then use Substack's Insert Image feature while editing a Substack post and then open the file from my computer, which would then automatically be inserted into the post.
NEW WAY. But then I found that I could use PrtScr to copy an image online and paste it directly into my post without bothering with the Insert Image feature. Also, one can right click on an image online and click on Copy Image, which is often even better than using PrtScr, because it copies just the image instead of the whole computer screen. It can then be pasted directly into a post (in Edit mode). However, if one wants the image edited first, it would have to be pasted into Paint or a similar program before pasting into the post.
VIDEO IMAGES. It’s neat that one can also do PrtScr while a video is on to get a copy of an image from the video.
ADD SOURCES. I try to remember to include links to sources of images so as not to violate copyrights.
ADDING LINKS
SUBSTACK HARD WAY. For some reason, Substack doesn't automatically make Links work, except for Youtube videos. First you have to use the Link tool at top of page during the Edit process. If you have a lot of links in your post, it's laborious.
BETTER WAY. But I found that, if I post to a forum that automatically makes Links, and then copy what I posted there, I can paste directly into my Substack post and the hyperlinks come along for the ride. One of my forums is http://funday.createaforum.com/. That's where I copy material that has a number of links. CreateAForum copies Links pretty good, but sometimes the hyperlinks get removed during pasting to my post.
So the procedure is to write text with links (URLs) in it, copy (I mean paste) it all to a forum post, copy the resulting forum post, then paste it into the Substack post.
Lately I found that we can copy and paste into substack posts any text online that includes such hyperlinks.
DOING BOTH
To do both procedures together, having several images and several links, the most efficient means seems to be to do the ADDING LINKS procedure first, then do the POSTING PICTURES procedure.
DEMONSTRATION OF POSTING MULTIPLE IMAGES
I guess I’ll just post some video images.
Most ancient Egyptian images online appear to show that they had hairstyles like black Americans, suggesting that many of them were likely of the black race.

The following image is from the 2nd video ever recorded that’s shown in this video. The first video was too boring for this high class post.

I think the following image is of structures hidden in the Amazon jungle, or possibly Central America.

ADDING IMAGES & LINKS TO SUBSTACK POSTS
I always used the copy - paste way to insert images. But lately I ran into problems doing that. When I go out of the editor after it wouldn't show my usual Dashboard and it looks like it is loading the draft for a very long time. Once I even lost about 1000 words. It worked with out a problem for months but now it doesn't. The only other thing I did was adding the premium version of Grammarly. Maybe it is related to that? Anyone else?
Brilliant Len - thank you so much - I've been looking to do this for ages and could never figure it out. Hat tip mate. :-)
