HOW I CAME ACROSS THIS INFO
Starting in the 1980s I used to subscribe to John Holt's magazine, called Growing without Schooling. He was a former teacher who got disillusioned about conventional teaching, so he started promoting home schooling and unschooling to parents and kids. He sold helpful books too. One of them was called The Continuum Concept, by Jean Liedloff. Jean spent some time with a tribe of Native Americans in the late 1960s in Colombia or Venezuela in South America. She felt like they were aliens, because their kids never cried or fought with each other or misbehaved and everyone always seemed happy. She found that it seemed to be due to the babies being held constantly and often active with their elders. Constant human touch was apparently a great need for infants to prevent stress and maintain contentment. In most other cultures, infants are neglected often and this seems to cause trauma in infants. Dr. Clancy McKenzie, a psychiatrist, found that trauma from early childhood showed the same brainwave patterns as soldiers and others who experienced a high risk of death in combat, which gave them PTSD, post-traumatic stress disorder. This PTSD in early childhood led to depression, schizophrenia and other psychological problems in adulthood. Dr. McKenzie advised mothers to be constantly accessible to their infants for the first 34 months of their lives to help them avoid PTSD. There is or was a movement called Attachment Parenting, which I think was started based on Jean Liedloff's book. Recently, I found a doctor who has a lot of free videos about overcoming childhood PTSD. She also has courses etc to take that cost money, but you can still enjoy the videos for free. I copied the titles of a bunch of them below. See if any of them sound interesting to you. I have/had my share of PTSD in the form of depression and fears, but luckily mine haven't been too bad. But I work to overcome the stress etc.

My name is Anna Runkle: I teach people to recognize and heal the symptoms of Complex CPTSD (CPTSD). Because my work is on focused on overcoming childhood abuse and neglect, you'll sometimes hear me use the term "Childhood PTSD."
I'm not a doctor or therapist. I’m someone who grew up with several alcoholics in the family, and all the dynamics that tend to go with that -- poverty, neglect, violence, and an environment of chronic, deep stress. When I grew up, the telltale signs of Childhood PTSD were all there -- health problems, depression and anxiety, relationship struggles--but traditional therapies never seemed to help.
When I found what DID help, my whole life changed. For more than 28 years I’ve been teaching a program that anyone can use, whether or not they have access to professional help. I focus first on healing brain and emotional dysregulation, and then on changing the self-defeating behaviors that are so common for those of us traumatized as kids.
